The mission of FBC is to love God, to love others, and to magnify the name of Jesus Christ. The vision of our church is to glorify our God and Savior, Jesus Christ, to make true disciples throughout all the nations by means of missionary activity and support, to minister the ordinances, to edify believers, and to do all that is sovereignly possible and biblically permissible to magnify the name of Jesus.
FBC Staff:
Gary D. Martin, Interim Pastor
Pastor Gary D. Martin has dedicated over four decades to ministry, serving in a variety of roles across California and internationally. Licensed to the ministry in 1973 and ordained in 1976, Pastor Martin’s ministry journey began at the Emmanuel Southern Baptist Church in Dos Palos, CA, and expanded through several Southern Baptist congregations. He served as the associate pastor at Valle Vista Southern Baptist Church and later pastored churches in Gustine, Modesto, and Winton, where he faithfully served as senior pastor for over 36 years until his retirement in June 2022.
Pastor Martin’s education reflects his commitment to deepening his theological and ministry knowledge. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in Bible and Religion from California Baptist College (1976), a Master of Religious Education in Church Administration and Christian Education from Golden Gate Baptist Theological Seminary (1982), a Master of Divinity in Pastoral Ministries from Luther Rice Seminary (1993), and a Doctor of Ministry in Christian Discipleship from Luther Rice Seminary (1997).
In addition to his pastoral work, Pastor Martin has contributed to church education and training, serving as an instructor and later as the director of the Central Valley Seminary Extension in Turlock, CA. He was also involved in various leadership roles within the Central Valley Southern Baptist Association, including moderator and committee member for missions development and children’s camps.
Pastor Martin’s heart for missions led him to lead multiple construction mission trips to Ukraine, including to the House of Prayer in Tchaplinka and Gregorievka. His leadership and teaching continue to inspire countless individuals and communities.
Ashlynn Martins, Administrative Assistant
